The LZPD NRW will provide its employees with the best possible support in reconciling work and care in the future and has therefore joined the NRW state programme "Reconciling work and care" as a partner alongside numerous companies, authorities and organizations.
The management of the authorities signed the charter of the state programme in the presence of the interest groups.
In North Rhine-Westphalia, 1.4 million people are currently in need of care, almost 88 percent of whom are cared for at home. An estimated 770,000 working people in NRW care for or support relatives, partners or friends in addition to their job. However, this figure includes not only the main carers, but also many people who regularly help out - whether by providing everyday support, organizational coordination or emotional support. Many of them experience a balancing act between professional and private obligations.
This double burden often remains invisible in the public eye, although it has a significant impact on the lives and health of those affected. Making it visible is therefore an important step towards better social and company framework conditions for reconciling work and care. To support affected colleagues, six care guides have been trained at the LZPD NRW as part of the state program, providing information and advice and acting as trusted contact persons.
